TREKKING FROM TELLARO TO MONTE MURLO AND MONTEMARCELLO

Path which leads from Tellaro to Monte Murlo where you can find Orto Botanico di Monte Marcello and then continue until you arrive at the village of Montemarcello, through the typical Mediterranean vegetation and the olive trees along the coast above Tellaro and then through the rich greenery of diverse oaks and pines.
The highest altitude is 365 m. and it takes approx. 1hr and 20 min (one way). The whole itinerary is approx. 8 km.

FROM TELLARO TO LERICI

This path connects two typical seaside villages Tellaro e Lerici through olive groves, woods of oak trees and fields.
Breathtaking views of the Golfo dei Poeti can be enjoyed almost all the way. In any case the path is shady and so ideal for walking in spring and summer.

ENOGASTROMONIC ROUTE FROM THE VARA TO THE MAGRA

This allows you to taste quality products, typical of the area, among which the mussels of the Gulf of La Spezia and the honey, the herbs, the cheese, the mesciua (a local soup made with chick peas) and panigacci (a flatbread served with cheeses and cold meats)
l’itinerario promotes 30 typical products, of which there is a DOP (PDO Protected Designation of Origin) which is the extra virgin olive oil from the Levante Riviera; and a DOC (CDO Controlled Designation of Origin) which is the Colli di Luni wine (white and red) and one IGT (Indicazione Geografica Tipica) (denotes wine from a specific region within Italy) which is wine from the Golfo dei Poeti.

Porto Venere

Among the famous natural attractions in Portovenere is the grotta di Byron (Byron’s sea cave); the semi submerged grotta Azzurr. On Tinetto there is the cavità dei Colombi (cave of doves) and the walls of Tino, the secca di Dante (Dante’s shallows) and the Cala grande (large cove) and Cala piccola (small cove).
Byron’s cave takes its name from the English poet George Gordon Byron, who took inspiration from these places for his works and used them as places of meditation. It is situated by the spur of rock underneath the San Pietro church.
